The Function of King County's Municipal Courts.
If you have been pulled over and given a speeding or traffic ticket by the local law enforcement (city police) in King County, you will with very few exceptions be ordered to appear in the municipal court of that city.  All of the municipal courts in King County are courts of limited jurisdiction.

In general, King County's municipal courts are authorized by Washington State statute to preside over criminal misdemeanors, gross misdemeanors, all speeding and traffic infractions, and various other civil violations that occur within the city limits of their jurisdiction.  Most King County Municipal Courts are also authorized to issue civil orders for protection for victims of domestic violence. 

King County's municipal courts function very similar to its District Courts when it comes to dealing with speeding tickets and traffic violations.  In general, the same rules and procedures apply.  Many cities, however, have their own municipal code, which often has one or more chapters dealing specifically with alleged violations related to driving.

The City of Enumclaw has its own municipal court and also hosts Maple Valley court services. Office hours are 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Monday through Friday at Enumclaw City Hall. Enumclaw Court is held at the Enumclaw City Hall on Tuesdays, with Maple Valley Court every second and fourth Wednesdays.
